A Monkey's Tale
Fear and hatred have always kept two tribes of monkeys apart. The ‘savage monkeys’ live in the treetops and the ‘civilised monkeys’ live far below on the ground. When a savage falls to the ground it is never allowed to live until one day the King intervenes to save a young savage, Kom, and has him taken to the castle to be ‘educated’.The King himself is enchanted by Kom, but many in his entourage are outraged at his presence at court. Years of prejudice and superstition cannot be overcome easily. This film may be more than 20 years old but its central message of tolerance is more and more topical. The hostility Kom encounters from the ‘civilised’ courtiers is exactly what refugees and foreigners encounter every day.
