Makes The World Live Young Again

The making of “Makes This World Live Young Again” animation video is a creative climate movement. We need a tool for transformative change – and what to transform. Human’s impact on the natural environment and lives on Earth have now reached a critical stage, threatening to destabilize society and economy. But through environmental thinking and necessary action across cultural activity, we create entertainment and edutainment to turn it into global education. For songwriter-cum-animation producer Richard Wan, the answer has been in these myriad exceptional creative ideas that he has been working with, especially during the Covid days. The creation of an original song (sung separately in bilingual languages) and a 3D animation music video may do wonders at the intersection of arts and environmental sustainability. He believes climate changes, being a manifestation of human values, always incommensurate with the finite resources of Mother Earth. We need people to listen, watch, enjoy and mitigate climate changes, not just in Singapore but across the world. Life experience and environmental changes lead to innovations. Sometimes, creative songs can be fundamental to academic disciplines and educational activities, not just to arts alone. From learning experience of writing children’s songs over these years, Richard Wan foresees that many real-life approaches to learning can help convey positive outlook with newer ideas of looking at things and unique methods or products that have value. It is hoped we can envision a more communicative future especially on environmental endeavours. Arts-based practices are increasingly seen as a powerful way of developing meaningful connection with climate change and help expand our imaginaries of the future, opening up our minds to new scenarios of social changes. Through environmental thinking and necessary action across cultural activity, we create entertainment and edutainment to turn it into global education. We have two language versions to this Made-in-Singapore production. It has also been our pleasure to hear Hong Kong veteran singer, Teddy Robin support us in the recording of the Mandarin version not just for Singapore but for the whole new world. It is a synergistic collaboration when our mission is to capitalize on creative ways of this global outreach and is designed for purposeful play.
